UCITS Servicing

Undertakings for collective investment in transferable securities

The 1985 EU UCITS Directive was introduced by the member states of the European Union in 1989. The aim was to create a pan-European funders market as part of the EU’s financial services action plan. The objective is to allow for open-ended funds investing in “transferable securities” to be subject to the same regulation in every member state. It was intended to establish a defined level of investor protection through strict investment limits, capital, organizational and disclosure requirements, as well as asset safe-keeping and fund oversight.
